DEBATE: Will ground breaking research come only from Research Papers, Sponsored Research, Conferences, Patent and Copyrights, and from top research institutes and organizations only?

DEBATE: Will ground breaking research come only from Research Papers, Sponsored Research, Conferences, Patent and Copyrights, and from top research institutes and organizations only?

Candidate 1:
Sir, they are doing their jobs, and you know, for job people may stretch research for life time, by the time their life is over, the drugs or technology would not come out, as they are doing jobs in the research organizations like NASA, ISRO, RSA, ESA or any drug company owned by State.

Candidate 2:
No, Sir, otherwise, human beings wouldn't have progressed so much.

Candidate 3:
Sir, have you seen the "JUGAD" it has engine of some thing else, it has iron cot as its vehicle frame, wheels of SUV, it has body of Tin and still it runs on the Indian roads, who invented it, no one knows, and that's how real research works and helps common human beings.I don't agree, these research organizations can be so frugal. They earn money by all means and from all the corners, it's a business and not for humanity.

Candidate 2:
Even Jugad is for mankind, and top class research is also fro mankind. I don't agree that organized research for some purpose like going to MARS or MOON can be done overnight, it takes it's own time. Ex.1. Bequeral Rays or X Rays were discovered not merely by accident but Henry Bequeral was performing some experiment on the Radioactive Material hence were discovered. Ex.2. Edison discovered safety lamp after several thousand failures.
Thus, it takes time, and man ours, to discover or invent something. Even Edison filed several patents, but to stop misuse of the technologies.

Candidate 3:
I don't agree patents can stop technologies been misused otherwise, evil minds wouldn't have used cell phone, etc. for wrong purpose.

Candidate 1:
Patent, Copyrights, are also used for the domination purpose, it could be business or institutional dominance or hegemonic as well.

Candidate 2:
You see, if you do multimillion dollars business then, why not you pay for the patents and do the ethical business? I don't think it's only for dominance, it for humankind that the research is aimed at.  It requires huge investments and organized resources.

Ultimately it was 2 versus 1. No one was stepping down, and all were putting their points in a reasonably good way.
